Murky water, white darkness
The year is 1951, and sixteen-year-old Eva is on a train to northern Bohemia with her domineering mother, Marta. They are carrying a suitcase with only a few clothes and a traumatic secret that will forever mark their relationship. Marta, a staunch communist, refuses to see the truth about her husband, whose shadow will hang over the family for the next half a century. A story about how the past can neither be erased nor sold, and how every daughter carries a piece of her mother within her – whether she rebels against her or tries to understand her.
