This publication aims to introduce the general public to the field of plastic surgery in its entirety and to highlight some of the problems that are becoming increasingly prominent today.
The book acquaints the reader with the development of the field of plastic surgery both globally and in the Czech Republic, presents an overview of the range of procedures that the author has performed during his long career, and describes treatment methods and subsequent recovery. Space is also dedicated to the risks associated with the procedures and advice on what to avoid when choosing a surgeon and a surgical facility. The author also addresses the topic of the ever-increasing popularity of aesthetic surgery, which, due to its high lucrativeness, is often presented in the media, unlike other branches of the field, even though it constitutes only one part of it. He also points out the pitfalls of a related trend, which is resulting in a decline in surgeons with sufficient general knowledge and practical skills in the field of plastic surgery.
