My year 1986

A sense of impending change is already in the air. Freedom is knocking quietly at the door, but it is felt before it is seen. Hope already had a face and a name: Mikhail Gorbachev. And then, the greatest disaster of recent decades. The explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Perhaps the breath of new times is most palpable in culture. In Slovakia, musical works are created that remain, in many ways, unsurpassed to this day—Po schodoch or Tlaková níž by Richard Müller and Banket, or Tanečnice z Lúčnice and Kráľovná bielych tenisiek by Elán.
