Mydy Rabycad: MYDY - CD

On their album M. Y. D. Y, Mydy Rabycad shatters all the stereotypes of dance music. With their third record, the band opens a new chapter. At first glance, it might seem that the band has stepped towards mainstream pop. But you'll quickly be proven wrong by the sound of dark Berlin clubs sometime around dawn.

Eleven new tracks are enough to make us forget about electro-swing parties. Not that Mydy Rabycad have lost their desire to dance. Quite the opposite. The lead single 'Just Dance' is a literal invitation to dance. Other songs combine catchy melodies with dance beats and uncompromising synthesisers. The band haven't denied their swing roots, but they are only audible in the details.

In tracks like 'Rise Up' or 'I Don't Care', emotion goes hand in hand with polished electronic production built on a solid synthesiser foundation. There's also a humorous touch in the form of the song 'Where's The Fokin' Backstage', which will delight many a promoter and musician. The album's mood corresponds with the fresh spaces of Berlin's Red Bull Music Studios, where the Prague group locked themselves away for several days. The final result was also shaped by producer Tomáš Konůpka and a number of guests: the brass section led by Miroslav Hloucal, the string quartet led by Hana Kašpárek Vyšínská, and double bassist Josef Fečo. With their third studio album, Mydy Rabycad confirm their status as one of the most current young bands.
