Returns to Shimamoto

A chamber love story, in which mystery and fate play a role, a story of losing and finding, of returning to the same woman, a man's dilemma, who has everything, that he could only dream of before, and yet he's groping in the belief that the reality is different, than it appears to him or us... A love triangle, at the center of which we first follow a boy named Hajime, suffering from it, he's an only child, later a grown man, who married a girl from a wealthy family and has two children with her, Hajime, who meets his childhood sweetheart again, the mysterious Shimamoto. He meets and loses, finds to lose. In the surreal, mystical night, which escalates the plot to madness, we may get a hint of the answer to the question of what happened: with us or with a character in a book? The work of the most important Japanese writer of our time, in which the author obsessively "operates" with his innermost, burning themes.

Haruki Murakami

Haruki Murakami (* 12 January 1949) is considered one of the most important Japanese writers of our time. In 1973, he graduated from Waseda University in Tokyo and instead of looking for a permanent job with a big company, he took the literally revolutionary step of opening a jazz bar in the suburbs of Tokyo. When he suddenly decided to write his first novel, hardly anyone could have guessed how important he would soon become. By the time he published his third work, The Hunt for the Sheep (no. 2016), for which he won the 1982 Noma Prize for talented authors, the "Murakami phenomenon" began to be discussed. Three years later, The End of the World & Hard-boiled Wonderland (no. 2008), for which the author received the prestigious Tanizaki Prize. In 1987 he published the novel Norwegian Wood (no. 2002) - did not win any literary awards, but broke all records, as the book sold more than four million copies in Japan alone.
