Crime novel The Network by the three-time winner of the best Swedish crime novel award
When Janek Mitter wakes up one morning with a terrible hangover, he finds his wife murdered in the bathtub. He's sure he's not a killer, but he can't prove it. On the fateful eve he had been partying hard with his wife and now he can't remember anything. Mitter is arrested by the police and charged with murder.
The case is taken up by Commissioner Van Veeteren, a withdrawn middle-aged man with a tendency to melancholy, whose personal life seems to be in ruins. As the investigation continues, it becomes increasingly clear that the solution to the case lies in an ancient family tragedy. Van Veeteren gradually penetrates the dense web of relationships, but the investigation becomes even more complicated when a second murder occurs.
