New Heaven

The year is 1933. Shortly after the Nazis seize power in Germany, a young Jewish woman, Hannah Rosenberg, loses her beloved job as a music teacher and is soon forced to move out of her flat. In search of a new refuge, she flees Berlin with her three-year-old daughter, Melina, to the remote Sandnerhof farm, where she finds a new home and a new family. But even in the countryside, the danger draws closer with each passing day. A war full of unimaginable horrors is coming. Hannah must lead a secret life in seclusion, but eventually, she too cannot escape deportation to the Auschwitz concentration camp. Meanwhile, Peter Hagen, whom Hannah still loves but who has no idea of little Melina's existence, finishes his university studies, makes an advantageous marriage, and builds a dazzling career at a ministry of the Reich. And by the time the ambitious lawyer realises who and what he has sold his soul to for the sake of his career, it may already be too late to right his wrongs…
