New Order: Republic - LP

The Manchester legend's sixth studio album was released in 1993. It was the first album after the demise of the cult indie label Factory Records, where New Order had been releasing until then. The album went to number 1 in the UK and was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize. It contains the hit Regret, the last New Order song to reach the UK Singles Top 5. After the release of Republic, the band went out of business for eight years. The album is now re-released on 180g vinyl.

One of the seminal bands in British music history was formed in 1980. After the death of lead singer Ian Curtis, it was formed by the remaining members of the legendary Joy Division. New Order initially combined post-punk with electronica, but later experimented mainly with what modern technology had to offer. Their 1983 hit Blue Monday is still the best-selling 12-inch single of all time.
