Nohavica Jaromír: Concert (1998) - CD
During a single season, Jaromír Nohavica joined the ranks of such a greatness of our popular music as, without a doubt, Hana Hegerová. Already in March 1997, it was she who presented Nohavica with Czech Grams for the best album of 1996. In August of the same year, Hana Hegerová performed with him in the courtyard of the castle in Telč, where their duet “Old Song“ was performed for the first time. . Finally, in December 1997, in the presence of Czech Television cameras, Hana Hegerová performed as a guest of Jaromír Nohavica at the Lucerna Music Bar in Prague.
The album contains 23 songs, four of which were unreleased until then (They go after me, Football, Confectionery bossanova, Broken angel of desire). Most of the songs were arranged by Vít Sázavský. It is precisely his example that confirms the well-known truth that songs that withstood the simple performance of their author (guitar and vocals) also gained a new quality with new arrangements for the Band.
This album is not just a recording of a concert and a selection of the best that Nohavica has written. In addition to four previously unreleased songs, you will also hear another 19 qualitatively new hits. Songs that were already popularized (When they took me as a soldier, Crazy Margaret, Darmodej, Until me tomorrow morning at five and more) sound completely new on this album. The band plays incredibly colourful and colourful. The stage alternates between a classic chamber trio, a jazz group, a folk trio, a rock cut and a pub heligonka. No procedure is repeated and each song will surprise you with something.
The members of the Band are mostly seasoned and famous musicians. In addition to the already mentioned arranger and bandleader Vít Sázavský (bass guitar, violin, guitar and vocals) two other members of the legendary band Nerez appear in the Band - Zdeněk Vřešťál (guitar, singing, producer of the last four Nohavic albums) and Pavel Plánka (drums, mj. starred in Shalom, Lucie and J. Ledeckého, current teammate D. Wands, musical Dracula, etc. ). Filip Jelínek, a grandson of the famous traffic light Jiří Jelínek and a member of the Sexy Dancers and JAR groups, plays the trombone and keyboards in the Band. Vladislava Hořovská plays the violin and sings in the Band - just like Petra Pukovcová, who plays the oboe and shalmaj.
In addition to the classical acoustic guitar, Jaromír Nohavica also plays the Russian seven-string guitar, which was built especially for him by the MN guitar workshop in Jihlava. For the first time, Nohavica also plays a “flat“ guitar here - an unadulterated electric guitar from the Godin brand. Jaromír' s technique of playing the heligonka - the accordion, which has been passed down in the Nohavic family for several generations from father to son, is also unheard of.
The album was recorded and mixed by the same team that produced the Weird Century: music director Vít Sázavský and sound director Ing. Miroslav Klus. The producer of the album is again Zdeněk Vřešťál. The author of the graphic design of the cover is Aleš Najbrt and the great photographs from the whole tour are the work of Jan Šilpoch.
