Noise
A mysterious horror thriller from the pen of film writer and director Jan Vejnar (the film She Came at Night, the series Actually Nothing Happened).
Shortly before Christmas, David receives a recording of a video taken years ago at a party. It depicts the situation that started the psychological decline of his now dead sister. David can't shake the feeling that the video's audio track holds the key to what really happened to her. And even when his girlfriend convinces him to get rid of the recording, he can't. He has no idea what he has opened the door to.
A properly frightening visual sensation easily takes over and you can't get it out of your head for a long time. But is it possible for sound to play a similar role? What if the trigger for a terrible course of events is an evil that you cannot see but only hear?
This is the idea that film writer and director Jan Vejnar has toyed with in his radio thriller, which takes place against the backdrop of contemporary Prague at the time of the approaching Christmas holidays, which in some national traditions are a time when the boundaries between the real and the supernatural, between the world of the living and the dead, are blurred. Is evil coming from the ancient past or is artificial intelligence and the smart home turning into it?
Radim Nejedlý, for whom Noise represented an exciting challenge, "materialized" the author's ideas as director: "What we can't see can absorb the form of our fears much more easily than the concrete image that its authors present to us ready-made. A thriller with horror elements as a sound work therefore offers a huge scope for the imagination of both listener and creator. If you work with actors as good as we were lucky enough to have, you can go into a fascinating world unbound by the frame of the picture."
Performers:
Viktor Kuznik (David), Annette Nesvadb (Veronica), Zdislava Pechová (Clara), Tereza Maxmilián Marečková (Agnes), Simona Peková (psychotronika Vávrová), Pavel Čeněk Vaculík (a colleague from David's company), Růžena Dvořáková (David's friend Eva), Jakub Svojanovský (David's friend Andrej), Martin Leiský (Luke), Ivan Dejmal, Marek Hurák, Sára Venclovská and Štěpánka Romová (friends), Vladimir Hauser (voice of Praslovan), Petr Kubes (Veronica's father), Jana Štvrtecká (Veronica's mother), Jiří Miroslav Valůšek (Jazmod artificial intelligence), Dagmar Křížová (artificial intelligence Iris), Vlasta Gajdošíková (TV presenter), Marie Veselá and Tomáš Kremr (voices in the podcast), Kristýna Valůšková (Cecilia)
