The author follows up on his essayistic sketches, reflections and commentaries (Antiquities) and, in accordance with the principles of Goethe's phenomenology, presents a 'polyphonic' picture of his perception and experience of the world. The central theme is the asymmetry, or schism, of the functions of the left and right hemispheres of the human brain (I. McGilchrist) and the consequences arising from the suppression of the right hemisphere's functions (rational thought versus creative imagination). He continues his critical interpretation of Jung's psychology and, in this context, discusses M. Eliade's contribution to resolving the relationship between the sacred and the profane. He highlights the fundamental importance of E. Voegelin's critique of Gnosticism for understanding the political history of the 20th century. He comments on current events with a focus on the causes that have led to the decline of scientific materialism and positivism in solving anthropological problems. A necessary part of the exposition is the author's self-presentation, from which his mental and worldview predisposition should be apparent.
