Novak, Zuzana: Home Brewed Mbira - CD

A singer and player of the sacred mbira, a plucked box that connects you with the spirits of your ancestors. Born in England to emigrants from the former Czechoslovakia, she fell in love with the music of distant Zimbabwe. Perhaps the only white woman in the world to have actively participated in the all-night bira ritual of the Shona people of Zimbabwe, whose trance-like rhythm is driven by the mbira.
