The book is a modern and practical publication providing insight into surgical nursing and patient care after surgical procedures in orthopaedics, traumatology and gynaecology. It includes patient examination, nursing care in the perioperative period and possible postoperative complications.

In the special section, the main domain is the practical application of the nursing process in selected medical diagnoses in various areas of surgery. Minimally invasive surgery and robot-assisted surgery are described – a very progressive method nowadays.

The main benefit is the interconnection of several parts of the nursing process – assessment, diagnosis and nursing care planning in selected surgical diseases.

The book is aimed primarily at undergraduate nursing students, but some parts of it may contribute significantly to the knowledge of nurses in further education.

The authors' aim was to present the information in a practical way so that the reader can understand the nursing process in context and apply it in practice in order to provide quality and effective nursing care to patients with surgical diseases.
