Oldfield Mike: Voyager - CD

“Voyager“ is the sixteenth studio album by British multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield. It was released in the summer of 1996 and ranked 12th best in the UK music album sales chart.

Voyager' s completely instrumental album is completely different from its predecessor, The Songs of Distant Earth - a “soundtrack“ to the sci-fi novel A. C. Clark. Voyager is inspired by Celtic and Irish music.

It contains three Irish (“The Hero“, “Women of Ireland“ and “She Moves Through the Fair“) and two Scottish (“Dark Island“ and “Flowers of the Forest“) folk songs adapted by Oldfield. Another song, “The Song of the Sun“, was composed by Bieito Romero from the Spanish band Luar na Lubre, which plays Celtic music. Only four songs on the album come from Mike Oldfield.
