Olympic: Kaťata - CD
The band Olympic, model 2020, brings a proper dose of life into our rock-pop world.
The coronavirus concert break gave Petr Janda the chance to write a set of new songs, 11 of which made it onto this album. There has also been a change in the keyboard player position, with Pavel Březina taking the spot. The lyricists, mostly from the younger generation, have provided lyrical content that is at times provocative, and for the current era, fiercely incorrect.
Olympic has partly returned to the high-energy rock to which a certain amount of rowdiness undoubtedly belongs.
A typical example is the opening hard-rock ride, Kaťata, which gave the album its rather unusual title and very extraordinary look, symbolising an ironic macho confession. Of course, you'll also find echoes of the classic Olympic sound here, for instance in the form of the ballad Šrám, co se nezahojí (A Wound That Won't Heal), which successfully follows in the footsteps of hits with clear listener appeal and radio potential. The surprise at the end is a narrated blues track, in which Janda offers a suggestive vocal timbre, illustrating more fictional stories from the lives of some truly tough guys.
