The great personality of the Czech Catholic Church, Tomáš Cardinal Špidlík, is the best guide to the Lord's Prayer.
In prayer we repeat again and again the request of Jesus' disciples: "Lord, teach us to pray." Like the apostles, Jesus gives the Lord's Prayer to the whole Church. It is not a lot of knowledge that feeds the soul, but inner feeling and experience of the truth. In the Our Father we find suggestions that help us to live honestly and deeply what is most important in the Christian life. It contains the tradition of the well-known short summary of all perfection. Pope Francis says: "This Christian prayer is born out of the courage to address God in the name of the Father. This is the root of Christian prayer, namely, to say the Father to God.
