Padlock: Punk Kingdom (2015) - CD

After five years, the legend of Czech punk Visací zámek releases a new album. And it is not a compilation, but a brand new album full of musical and literary gems. It is titled after the New Year's speech, Punk Kingdom, and contains fifteen pieces full of joy and sorrow. Alongside this, there should also be attempts at pop or psychedelic alternative. "The song Volské intro could also be called, That, we've always wanted to play, but we weren't allowed' ", Michal reveals, Pixies'' Pixa.

The lyrics were traditionally written by Jan Haubert alias Hony. One of the lyrics was added by the Pixies and two were borrowed from the classics. From the poet Karel Haváček they borrowed Played Someone the Oboe and from Christian Morgenstern they borrowed The Granite Ox.

"I took care with the lyrics and wanted them to be funny and with insight. But when I finally sorted the songs into an album, I found that the whole sounded quite threatening. There's the poisoned alcohol and collapsing pensions, there's the morning rush and the horrible music programme of Radiožurnál, then there's the spousal murders and the horrible anonymous funeral. And there are infected ticks lurking everywhere! You have to take a very punk approach to life to enjoy it," explains Hony. The whole band was involved in the creation of the music.

The Punk Kingdom album will be released on Friday, February 27, 2015. Exactly one week later, they will start a tour of the Czech Republic, during which they will present the album. On 26 March 2015, the album will be christened in Prague's Akropolis Palace.
