Palič's Daughter - DVD
Valenta the Fiddler is a drunk. He lives with his three daughters in great poverty. After a quarrel with her drunken father, her eldest daughter Rozarka decides to go with her sisters to her aunt's in Prague, and her abandoned father sets fire to their house. Suspected of arson is Rozarka, who takes the blame in an attempt to protect her father.
The film adaptation differs from the original mainly in the ending. At that time (and later) it was unacceptable for everyone to go to America in search of happiness. František Kožík therefore modified the ending. Otakar Jeremiáš won the National Award for his music for the film in 1941.
