Young start-up founder and inventor Denis is working to finish his unique device, which could spark an information revolution. However, a terrifying incident during a weekend hike turns his life upside down. Deep in the middle of the Little Carpathians, he unexpectedly disturbs two unknown men as they attempt to dispose of the remains of a dead body. Although they spot him, he manages to escape. Only afterwards does he realise that he left his personal belongings in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene, which could allow the perpetrators to easily track him down. Events quickly escalate. Denis contacts the police, but they have no leads to go on. He then turns to a private detective, Tomek, who promises to help him. Meanwhile, Denis has to go into hiding, but the noose is already tightening mercilessly around him. Will he manage to finish his revolutionary project in the end? And is it possible that these dramatic events are all connected?

Vladimír Ritomský (1982) comes from Martin and studied regional geography at Comenius University. He currently works as a business software specialist. He lives in Bratislava with his wife and two children. The novel Patent is his literary debut.
