People, Animals, Gods
A historical-travel autobiography by the author, who, after fleeing revolutionary Russia in 1919, reached the regions of Mongolia and Tibet. An exceptional part of his journey was his meeting with the charismatic Roman von Ungern-Sternberg, who controlled a significant part of Mongolia during this period and was considered by local tribes to be the reincarnation of Buddha. The original edition was published in instalments in the 1940s, and after digitalisation, it has undergone stylistic and grammatical edits.
