People of the Mist

The young English nobleman, Leonard Outram, loses his inheritance. To marry his beloved, he ventures into the heart of darkest Africa in search of fortune. After an arduous journey full of danger and adventure, he arrives in a mysterious land hidden on an inaccessible plateau. There, in the City of Mist beneath a majestic mountain, lies a huge treasure, its value unknown to the local natives. It is said that no one has ever left this city alive. Nevertheless, Leonard decides to obtain the treasure – and he is not alone. At his side stand loyal allies: a black dwarf with extraordinary courage and a beautiful girl whom the natives worship as a goddess. Henry R. Haggard is considered the founder of the 'lost world' subgenre of fantasy literature – stories set in so-called lost kingdoms.
