Perpetrators of Special Acts

In this alternative future, humanity has literally infested the universe and turned it into chaos. Someone should ensure that at least some semblance of order is maintained – but that won't be a task for humans, just look at the “successes” they achieve on their home planet. It might be better to leave control to incorruptible machines. But what happens when technology collides with magic? Who will ultimately have telepathy under their thumb, and who will be left with immortality? Jana Rečková (1956) has delved into all genres of speculative fiction in her work: from sci-fi and fantasy to horror. In addition to more than fifty short stories, she has also written numerous novels, including the classic fantasy Kniha prokletých (2003), the genre-blending Píseň o Dveřníkovi (2005, Trifid Award), and the horror Dřímota (2008). In the Pevnost Edition, she has so far published the collections 2. čaroděj v akci (2005, with Jana Jůzlová), Silnice kolem kousku světa (2006), and the two-volume book Pohřbeni na Soldafaru (2008, Award for Best Fantasy).
