Petrdlík Jiří: Eugene Onegin - CD

This title presents Sergei Prokofiev's little-known 1936 melodrama, Eugene Onegin. The composer focused on the sections of Pushkin's immortal work that Tchaikovsky omits in his opera. Prokofiev's music in this piece is comparable to his best film scores—it is emotionally rich, captivating and dramatic. It is an immensely successful combination of orchestral music and the brilliant verses of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin.
