Pilarová Eva: Proměny (3x CD) - CD

A triple album featuring the most essential songs Eva Pilarová recorded during her fantastic career!

The opening theme, Co je to láska, heralds the important Semafor theatre period, documented here with a series of songs, including those from the film Kdyby tisíc klarinetů (If a Thousand Clarinets). The second half of the 1960s saw a continuation of extraordinary hit successes, whether with Waldemar Matuška, Jaromír Mayer, or as a solo artist. Melodies from the musical Finian's Rainbow, Czech versions of songs by S. Gainsbourg and J. Brel, Cole Porter, and excellent compositions by "Boban" Ondráček (Rekviem)—the "FitzPilarka" celebrated by writer Škvorecký managed to do it all.

The second album is just as varied: Sekáči jdou, Rodeo, or Já do hry dávám víc, but also songs from the musical West Side Story. Karel Svoboda made his mark (Hluchý zvon, Dám tisíc dukátů, and Oheň a led), B. Ondráček supplied more huge hits like Jsem tvá dlouhá pouť, Rodeo, and Léto, léto, Les Humphries "lent" Mexico, and the film Takoví jsme byli (The Way We Were) provided its theme song. The final album then offers gems like Rota's magnificent Siciliana (Speak Softly Love), Mozart's almost jazzy Turkish March, a duet with Petra Janů, Jen Pán Bůh ví, the consistently brilliant piece Montiho čardáš, and even brand-new recordings.

With almost seventy songs, this is the most complete compilation to date from the First Lady of Czech Song, perfectly fulfilling the triple album's title. Her Proměny (Transformations) are attractively diverse, yet unified by outstanding musicality into a powerful listening experience.

A selection of the greatest hits from 1961 to 2008!
