Pokáč: Antarctica - LP

He wrote the songs for the Antarctica Pokáč album during 2019 and 2020, which, in his own words, were quite crucial years for him. "In my professional life, I played a concert at the sold-out Forum Karlín and won double platinum for both records, and in my personal life I found a life partner with whom I had a son. At the same time I was of course affected by the pandemic of covid, but I wanted this album to be as non-covid as possible. " In the end, he chose 16 of the 50 songs he wrote during that time. He did not limit himself thematically. His inspirations are traditionally life itself, social networks and humour. As with the previous ones, Pokáč recorded the album with producer Honza Balcárek (aka Johny Rainbow, Light & Love) and the cover was again created by artist Alžběta Göbelová. The album will be launched on 20 January 2022 at the O2 Arena.

Pokáč, whose own name is Jan Pokorný, describes his style as "a failed attempt at folk, or a failed attempt at music". His "career progression", however, refutes this claim. Both his previous albums Hair and Completely Left have gone beyond double-platinum awards, he has moved from clubs to spaces like Forum Karlín and the O2 Arena. As an author, he is also sought after by his generational contemporaries (among others. Mirai, Voxel, Jakub Dean), in 2018 he started writing songs for the AC Sparta Prague football team, of which he's a longtime fan, and regularly gives witty glosses on social events on his YouTube channel Pokáč's Quickie.
