Prague Big Band: Portrait - CD

The portrait, the first album of the Prague Big Band, led by Milan Svoboda, was created in 1977 and immediately received an extraordinary response from the audience and critics. In addition to the bandleader, Michael Kocáb and Jiří Stivín contributed compositions.
The prestigious American magazine DownBeat rated the record with four and a half stars out of five and wrote: “The big band plays sharply, the rhythm section pulsates with electric sounds and the musicians start soloing as a tear from the chain - sometimes great, like the saxophonist Jiří Stivín, but always effectively. All six songs are original. Any American big band could have them in their repertoire. ”
The album has disappeared from the market for four decades and is now being re-released on CD in the first time.
