Prince: Purple Rain (Single, Reissue 2016) - LP

A reissue of one of Prince's most famous albums, released as the soundtrack to the film of the same name in 1984. This new edition contains the album remastered in 2015 by the musician himself from the original masters, along with a number of rare and previously unreleased recordings. These include the 1983 solo version of Possessed, the previously unknown studio version of Electric Intercourse, the instrumental Father's Song (of which only a snippet was heard in the film), and the full, ten-minute version of We Can F**k. All bonus tracks were mastered from the original tapes by Bernie Grundman, the studio engineer who worked on the original album. The reissue is available as a 2CD or 3CD+DVD set. The more extensive version also offers B-sides from the singles and their edits, while the DVD features the Prince and The Revolution concert from Syracuse in March 1985. Alongside the expanded edition, a black or coloured vinyl version is also available, containing the remastered original recording.

Prince is one of the most distinctive figures in global pop music. He was nominated for a Grammy award many times, winning it seven times. In 2004, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is considered one of the hardest-working and most productive musicians of recent decades.
