Psychologist in health care
The text Psychologist in Healthcare is intended for students of the course of the same name, accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. Successful completion of this course allows students of the single-subject psychology degree to complete the process of acquiring professional competence to practice as a psychologist in the health care sector, which they can obtain by completing an accredited master's single-subject degree in psychology. < br> The publication is the result of the collaboration of a ten-member team of physicians and psychologists and provides a summary of information on the possibilities of defining and conceptualizing health and its determinants, on the organization and management of health care, on the role and importance of health policy, and presents the main development trends in the health status of the Czech population, including a comparison of these trends at the international level. The next part of the publication summarizes the principles, procedures and practical recommendations for providing first aid and medical care in emergency and crisis situations. Attention is also paid to the requirements for the content and principles of medical documentation. The publication also provides an overview of the main legal norms relevant to health care. Another important part of the publication is the introduction of the basics of pharmacology, which introduces psychologists to the effects of drugs and medicines on the human body, including issues of drug interactions, drug classification and possible side effects. The next section of the publication is devoted to the possibilities of psychological influence on health status, introduces the background and main concepts of health-related behaviour change, provides an explanation of the principles of health promotion and protection, and presents the issue of evidence-based practices. Emphasis is also placed on the ethical issues of psychological work in health care, which represent the origins and development of ethical considerations in psychology. The publication provides an overview of ethical codes, presents the Code of Ethics of the Czech-Moravian Psychological Society (CMPS) and the Metacode of Psychological Ethics of the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA). In the conclusion, the authors turn their attention to the definition of the conditions, course and results of medical practice, the completion of which is part of the Psychologist in Healthcare course.
