Radiation protection in X-ray procedures - the most important for practice

Practical, schematic and clear publication that will introduce you to the principles of operation of individual devices and the principles of protection of nursing staff and patients.

The book is intended mainly for radiological assistants and radiologists (also in preparation for certification), as well as for radiological physicists (throughout their studies and in preparation for certification). It deals with X-ray diagnostics from a technical point of view and the related radiation protection and perfectly fills the white space in our book market. The reader will find everything he or she needs in this well-documented publication (more than 130 didactic original pictures and numerous tables and graphs).

The book is divided into 10 chapters. The introductory chapter contains basic information on the concept of radiation protection. The publication also provides a detailed description of the individual components of the imaging chain and an overview of the imaging modalities. Through these theoretical chapters the author gets to the more practical parts, dosimetry and estimation of doses to patients. This is followed by a chapter briefly describing the nature of radiobiology and the related topic of radiation exposure in pregnancy. In the following chapters, the book provides a summary of the practical aspects of radiation protection, when to use protective shielding and how. At the end, there are test questions to check the reader's knowledge.
