Reach Zachea

A book of sermons that he delivers to believers in church, as well as other speeches for various ceremonial occasions such as funerals, weddings, and others. These are follow-up reflections on the topic of " the search for spiritual life". The author does not offer simple instructions; on the contrary, in the spirit of his previous books, he invites readers to internal disagreement and doubt about things that are all too common. They then place these in new contexts with the help of biblical texts.

The image of Zacchaeus, the Jericho tax collector hiding in the branches of a fig tree, so that he could observe Christ' s actions unnoticed and only then decide to follow him, For Tomáš Halík, it is identical to the idea of most contemporary people, who are just finding their way to Christianity, they hesitate and are eager at the same time. He sees the meaning of his pastoral work precisely in addressing them. The idea of " approaching Zache" occupied Tomáš Halík for a long time. Ultimately, he chose the traditional form of sermon for its book concretization. This created a remarkable synthesis of the eternal content of the Bible with a significant updating contemporary contribution and commitment of the author' s personality.
