RED FLAG 3: The Last Man
One world is not enough. Even the two Lister's in it...
Some three million years after the invention of artificial intelligence, humanity is on the verge of extinction because the only human, Dave Lister, is sitting in a prison cell with no prospect of sex. The vagaries of space-time have thrown him into the disciplinary camp of the guiffs on Lotomi 5, where he experiences cyber hell for crimes he has yet to commit. So say the laws of astrophysics, for in multidimensionality the individual is condemned to experience all the eventualities of existence at once and at the same time to be immediately criminally responsible for them. The prisoner must therefore urgently seek out his double, which will be a mystery even with a polymorph at his side. Plus, Rimmer's son and the fact that the android Kryten has turned into a human, not to mention a supply of spare heads, come into play. A precarious situation. It's a good thing the narcissistic Puss is still around. With the help of the lucky virus, will the crew of the Cosmic, now commanded by the beautiful Kochanska, manage to free Lister and restore order before they are crushed by the black hole? And isn't this just a string theory stunt anymore, darlings?
Don't hesitate even for a nanosecond and sail into deep space! And most importantly, in the third installment of Red Dwarf survivor stories, watch out for the Trojans...

They wrote about the book:
Lister? When you love him, you see him everywhere. I don't care if it's in multiple editions.
- Weird Tales

A work of its own in the world of Dwarf [after the break-up of the author duo] - and it should be taken as such. Overall, it's more serious and epic, with a number of unexpected twists and ideas.
- WuWei's notebook

Naylor (...) started his own adventure full of action, darker moments and gritty scenes. The story is suspenseful and crazy enough to be interesting.

Doug Naylor
(* 1955) Manchester-born humorist, best known as the co-creator of the SF sitcom Red Dwarf (with Rob Grant), which was broadcast on BBC4 from February 1988 under the joint Siamese pseudonym Grant Naylor. Since the Emmy Award-winning cult classic had only been on our television since January 1998, the duo had to break up in the meantime (1993), and the partnership was then reduced to a co-participation in the company, which produced the last six series of the series and also presented the feature-length special Red Dwarf as the 74th episode in 2020: The Promised Land. However, episodes of the sitcom - rerun here on the Paramount Network - continue to circulate in the orbit of high-end island entertainment thanks to a four-part novel version of the material (1989-1996), which is the basis for our audiobooks. While the first two volumes document the harmony of the tandem, in the remaining two volumes each author has taken up the subject matter in his own way and reached the conclusion of the fate of the survivors of the orphaned mining ship independently. Naylor's solution presented in The Last Man (1995, no. 2003) was reflected in the serial episodes of the fourth series (Kamila, DNA), Fifth (Quarantine, Demons and Angels), Sixth (Psirens, Legion, Gunslingers of the Apocalypse, Polymorph II: Emocuc) and especially the seventh (Uroboros).
