Religion and Modern Czech Society
The publication is intended primarily for students of the humanities and social sciences. It is devoted to the analysis of the role of religion in Czech society in the 20th and early 21st century and the changes in the relationship of Czech society to this important cultural and social phenomenon. It deals with the problem of religion in Czech society both in a historical perspective, when it examines the relationship between religion and politics in the context of the emergence of the modern Czech nation, the independent state and the communist regime, and in a religious studies perspective, when it focuses on individual forms of religiosity in Czech society and its transformations. It also pays attention to the so-called. Czech atheism. The aim is to present a plastic picture of the religious life of Czech society and to challenge some deeply held "myths", including the claim of the most atheistic nation in the world.
