Religious systems
Religion is a social and cultural phenomenon, accompanying the origin and development of all human communities, a system of ideas, with the help of which man enters into contact with beings, phenomena and forces unknowable by human senses, located outside of real time and space. The book attempts to find a common denominator with which to compare religious systems. It is based on the four basic types of religious behaviour as defined by social anthropology - it is a set of ideas: 1. of the worlds of souls and spirits, 2. of the worlds of magic and sorcery, 3. of the worlds of many deities, and 4. of the worlds of a single god. Their descriptions are intended to enable the reader to navigate the ideas of other believers and to understand their religious behaviour. If we look at religious behaviour from the perspective of the members of the Euro-American post-modern civilisation, then it can be added that the religious system and religious behaviour provide man with psychological security and safety in the constant struggle for survival.
