Report card

Over six months, three small children are murdered and a fourth escapes death by a hair's breadth. The perpetrator initially strikes in the Ostrava region, then moves to Prague. All the cases have one thing in common – the murders or attempted murders occur the day before the victims' birthdays. The Ostrava detectives, led by Ivoš Kilián, are initially working intensively to find out who is behind these heinous acts and what their motives are. They are later joined by their Prague colleagues with Radim Brázda's team. This is their second case together; their first was the investigation readers know from the book *Perfektní alibi* (Perfect Alibi). As new facts are gradually uncovered, the circumstances surrounding the children's deaths become increasingly horrifying. The murder squads are in a race against time, doing everything they can to catch the killer before they can strike again.
