Rheumatology for practice
The book is divided into two parts, general and special. In the general part of the book, brief notes on the classification of a heterogeneous group of rheumatic diseases are given.
The chapter Examination of the patient with rheumatic disease is important. An overview of laboratory imaging tests used in rheumatology is also given.
The chapter Emergent conditions in rheumatology, which provides an overview of individual acute manifestations of rheumatic diseases divided according to the type of organ involvement, is useful.
The chapter Drugs in rheumatology has been supplemented with the issue of pain treatment in rheumatic patients, separate chapters on vaccination of rheumatic patients and antirheumatic drugs during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Newly added chapters on the basics of rehabilitation and preoperative preparation of rheumatic patients
In a special section, individual groups of rheumatic diseases are described – systemic autoimmune diseases, vasculitis, spondyloarthritis, osteoarthritis, crystal-induced arthritis, arthritis related to infection and other rheumatic diseases.
In the chapter Other rheumatic diseases the reader will find information about metabolic diseases of the skeleton, osteonecrosis, diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis, sarcoidosis, rheumatic manifestations of diabetes mellitus, paraneoplastic syndromes, adverse rheumatic effects of cancer immunotherapy and extra-articular rheumatism.
Information on rheumatic syndromes of childhood including juvenile idiopathic arthritis, vasculitides of childhood, uveitis in childhood rheumatic diseases, and an overview of autoinflammatory syndromes is also provided across chapters.
The book Rheumatology for Practice is intended not only for rheumatologists, but also for undergraduate and postgraduate students of medical faculties, general practitioners, internists and physicians of other specialties with an overlap into rheumatology.
