A poetic story that takes you to the winter mountains...
Listen to the most compelling story Stifter ever wrote. It is simple, poetic and takes you to the winter mountains, beautiful and merciless. The evocatively described silence of the snowy and glacier-covered landscape is directly audible.
The parents of the siblings Konrad and Sanna come from villages not far apart. In the first one, where the father's family comes from, people know each other, live in harmony with nature and basically isolate themselves from the outside world. The children's mother is from nearby Millsdorf, which in turn cultivates lively contacts with the surrounding area and is interested in new technological achievements.
On Christmas Eve, the children go to visit their grandparents in the neighbouring valley. On the way back over the hill it starts to snow heavily, the children go off the trail and into the ice and snow fields of the big mountains. He wanders in the dazzling white ice and snow, trying in vain to descend the mountain. Then it gets dark...
Later that night, men from both mountain villages set out to find them. The next day, both children are found alive and well. Celebrating and caring for children at risk will change people's hearts forever.
