Rottrová Marie: Footprints (2009) - CD

The noble lady of Czech pop, a star who, thanks to her unmistakable charismatic performance, appearance, and sensitive choice of repertoire, has never lost the favour of her fans, is back with a new album after a long eight years. It bears the symbolic title “Stopy” (Traces). It offers a delightful collection of songs that, despite coming from a seemingly wide spectrum of authors, flow with a very cohesive and unified mood, creating a convincing and consistent album that is also a great listen.

One of the album's gems is the delicate composition by the late Z. Navarová, “Žaluzie” (Blinds) (the lead single), which, despite its sad mood, seems to symbolise the peaceful atmosphere of this lovely record with an almost singer-songwriter feel. The names of some of the authors give a clue as to why this is the case. One cannot overlook P. Milcová, V. Kučaj, or P. Jíšová, and lyricists Z. Vřeštál, J. Nohavica, and also H. Sorrosová.
