Santana: Amigos LTD

LP Record Breaking down Santana's tightly woven bundles of music into manageable stylistic pieces is like a game of pick-up sticks that even seasoned players can't win. Whether the stick is called funk, jazz, rock, R&B or folk: when you try to pull out a single piece with your pointed fingers, the whole pile vibrates with it. How simplistic, on the other hand, seems the common attempt to categorise track lists according to more or less commercially focused compilations. Once the chart has finally been carefully evaluated and cleverly explained to friends, everyone can once again enjoy the juicy string roulades of a blockbuster like "Caravanserai" or "Welcome" with a broad smile – quality, after all, can pay off.
