Schelinger Jiří: Zlatá kolekce Čas 51:71:81 (3x CD) - CD

Spring 2011 marks a double anniversary for Schelinger: sixty years since his birth, thirty since his tragic death!

This selection is named after one of the songs by the brilliant singer with the gravelly voice, while the numerical subtitle covers his birth and death dates and the year of his early recording, published here for the first time. The veteran compiler Pavel Víšek has managed to create a 3-CD set with the maximum number of hits and interesting discoveries.

The first disc showcases Jiří's interpretative artistry in the Czech bubblegum repertoire, as well as film and dance music; of course, it includes his most essential songs about pigeons, René, spinach, and the great ape. The second CD is dedicated to Schelinger as a composer, perhaps surprisingly for many, including essential songs like Nemám hlas jako zvon, Kartágo, Lucrezia Borgia, Jahody mražený and Lupič Willy. The final part of this journey back in time features him as a master of covers, performing songs by bands like Mungo Jerry, The Beatles, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath. The Zemětřesení project has been partially reconstructed here, and there are also some curiosities, including the blonde singer delivering a great soul performance in a bar. The booklet also includes a CV, a retrospective interview with his brother, and many rare photographs.

He dreamed of hard rock but also made many other kinds of music. He was a star but never succumbed to inflated mannerisms. He was loved, he loved, and he sang about it wonderfully. This compilation offers dozens of pieces of proof.

Jiří Schelinger 1971–1981: a decade packed with unforgettable music!
