Shall We Fly?: Turbošansón - CD

Wild, genre-blending, and fast-paced music with witty, true-to-life lyrics that captivate with their directness, amuse with their sharper vocabulary, or, conversely, make you think—that's Poletíme?, a seven-piece ensemble talked about as one of the most entertaining Czech bands today. You can see for yourself if there's any truth to that on 12th September, when Poletíme? will release their new album, Turbošansón, on the Supraphon label. According to the band, for the very first time, they've managed to capture the energy typical of their live shows.

Stylistically, we can look forward to their characteristic explosive mix of interesting musical ingredients, as hinted at by the title Turbošansón. Poletíme? frontman Rudolf Brančovský comments: “It’s hard to pigeonhole our band. We’re not folksy enough for pub music. We’re too punk for country. We like ourselves too much for jazz. We’re not curious enough for swing. We play gently, and then suddenly like louts. Slowly, and then fast. We live for songs—stories—chansons. And because chanson is usually a bit whiny, we need it to be turbo to keep us entertained.”

The new album, which the band will launch on 18th November in Brno and 25th November in Prague, was produced by Ondřej Ježek at JáMOR studio and features a total of fourteen tracks. As is customary for Poletíme?, all of them are inspired by real events and people and are penned by the bandleader, singer, and banjo player Rudolf Brančovský.

Turbošansón—an explosive cocktail of songs inspired by real life.
