Simone Nina: Pastel Blues

LP Record Perceiving blues more as a feeling than a form, Nina Simone explores the intersections between the sacred and the secular on Pastel Blues, her fourth Philips record. Simone draws on a rich palette of moods and emotions, covering a wide range of songs: classics like "Trouble in Mind" and "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out", a piano and vocal version of "Strange Fruit", and the redemptive "Sinnerman", delivered as a soaring, gospel-infused vocal performance.
