The Deadly Worm

For centuries, the Mongols have told stories in their yurts about a deadly creature that lives in the remote parts of the Gobi Desert. They say it can kill its victims from a distance. Even saying its name aloud can bring misfortune. That name is Olgoi-Khorkhoi, and the most accurate translation is something like… the intestine worm.

The year is 2021.

Mongolia is hit by a devastating earthquake, affecting not only the capital city of Ulaanbaatar but also the palaeontological site known as Bayan Dzak – the Flaming Cliffs. It is here that the Czech expedition GOBI 2021, led by Professor Richter, is conducting its research. While its members await evacuation and try to secure valuable dinosaur fossils, they are unaware that deep beneath the surface of the Gobi, the earthquake has awakened an ancient enemy of all life on Earth. Through its veins, deadly Olgoi-Khorkhoi are now streaming towards the surface…

However, the members of the Czech palaeontological expedition are not only threatened by these legendary creatures but also by a danger that is entirely human. A Russian oligarch known as the Tsar has his own interests in the area – and he will stop at nothing to advance them…
