A detective story by Michaela Klevisová from the Josef Bergman series
The book transports readers to the idyllic landscape of the Beskid Mountains, where people still live simply and in harmony with nature, much like their ancestors did for generations. However, even here, business has made its mark, turning old timber cottages into hotels and guesthouses, and all living creatures in the forests into game. Estate agent Olga is murdered in a remote location high in the mountains, in front of the very cottage she was trying to sell. This happens just a few weeks after the murder of another estate agent in Prague. The two cases are linked by similar circumstances, and what's more, the murdered women might have known each other.
Detective Josef Bergman therefore travels to the mountains to investigate among the local residents. It's not easy, however, as the inhabitants of the mountain solitude are distrustful and reserved, and many of them have secrets they are certainly not willing to share with Bergman.
