Spálený Jan Trio: Terčino milé údolí - CD
A recording of an extraordinary concert that took place at the beginning of this summer at the Cuknštejn fortress, located in Terčino Valley near Nové Hrady in southern Bohemia. With this album, the Jan Spálený Trio conceptually follows up on its previous live album, Panenko skákavá, recorded in Skoky u Žlutic (2012). Much like the church in Skoky, Cuknštejn, or rather Terčino Valley, is imbued with a unique genius loci. The album Terčino milé údolí successfully captures the exceptional atmosphere of this unusual place, to which Jan Spálený has a personal connection. For the album, he selected songs that he considers gems, spanning the entire thirty-three years of his band's existence, with lyrics by Pavel Vrba, Pavel Kopta, and other authors he greatly respects. In addition, he included new songs that premiered right there at Cuknštejn.
The Jan Spálený Trio consists of outstanding musicians: Jan Spálený (piano, cornet, vocals), a Czech jazz legend and the “father of one of the living forms of Czech blues”; the world-famous trumpeter Michal Gera (also flugelhorn and vocals); and Filip Spálený (tuba, bass guitar).
