Springfield, Buffalo: Buffalo Springfield Again - LP
The Buffalo Springfield group was founded in early 1966, but its origin can be considered the moment when Neil Young and Stephen Stills first met at a folk club in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Young was there with The Squires, a band he had led since February 1963, Stephen Stills was touring with the folk rock band The Company.
Some time later, when The Company disbanded at the end of the tour, Stills moved to the west coast of the United States, where he worked as a studio musician, including for The Monkees. Producer Barry Friedman told him he would have a job for him if he started his own band. Stills invited Au Go Go Singers, Richie Furay and former Squires bassist Ken Koblun to join him in California.
The group' s name was taken from a sign on a steamroller made by the Buffalo-Springfield Roller Company and parked on the street in front of Friedman' s house (where Stills and Furay lived).
