Starlight 1: Vilma and the Lost Day
Vilma Mechová is the youngest and least powerful witch in the wizarding family. He can find lost things like keys, socks or false teeth. Which is certainly useful, but not very exciting... But then the most feared witch in all of Starlight shows up at Vilma's family home.
and begs for her help. The whole of Tuesday was lost. Absolutely. And without it, the whole universe could collapse. Vilma thus holds the fate of the whole world in her not particularly distinguished hands. Can he save his home? Can a lost day ever be found?
Dominique Valente is originally from South Africa but currently lives in Suffolk, England, where she writes fantasy books for children and young adults and historical novels for adults under the pen name Lily Graham. The character of Vilma Mechová and her journey to accept her magical abilities reflects the author's life experience. Dominique was born with only one arm and while growing up she felt that she was not good enough because of her disability. But like Vilma, she understood that our existence, with all its mistakes and setbacks, is something wonderful beyond all doubt. Moreover, when we can sweeten it with delicious cakes, Dominica's favourites are the chocolate ones or the sponge cake with lemon icing.
