Sting: Brand New Day

LP Record "Brand New Day" was an optimistic, anthemic song released in September 1999, just a few months before the start of the 21st century. Although the song was written long before this date, the lyrics addressed the existential fears surrounding the year 2000, offering a counterpoint to the view that the apocalypse was imminent. "It's about a new beginning, a fresh start," Sting emphasised before the release of his sixth album, also titled Brand New Day. "It coincides with this millennium thing, but we have to reset the clock, so it's a great metaphor for wiping the slate clean and starting over." The track "Brand New Day" broke into the UK Top 20 and was the perfect introduction to the album of the same name, which was released on 28 September.
