Stories by Ladislav Grosman

The second volume of writings brings all the stories from the first edition of The Bride, the short story book Head Against the Wall published in exile, texts published only in magazines and especially unpublished stories from the author's manuscripts. In his prose, Grosman returns to interwar and wartime Slovakia, capturing post-war everyday life and evoking life in Israel in the 1970s. The most valuable thing in this volume is Grosman's depiction of the vanished interwar world of Slovak Jews, where he spent his childhood. The book was organized, prepared for publication and editorially commented by Jiří Opelík.
