Silver Wind - DVD
The Czech film "Silver Wind", directed by the state prize-winning director Václav Krška, is a film transcription of the novel of the same name by the great Czech poet and national artist Fráni Šrámek, a novel that captures in an unrivalled way the psychology of a young boy's coming of age at the end of the last century.
In a small South Bohemian town, among his school friends and in the close-knit company of adults, septiman Jan Ratkin experiences the confusion of his first emotional stirrings and encounters the misunderstanding and ill will of the world around him, which is so different from his ideas and wishes.
A sensitive boy rebels against the cruelty and narrow-mindedness of adults and lets himself be carried away by the richness of his emotional experiences. They are dominated by the sound of the silver wind singing the song of youth and love. And none of the dissonances of life, whether it is his encounter with the aging actress Helena or the first knowledge of a woman's body given to him by the bitter widow Haurová, or the incidents in the lives of his classmates and friends, can drown out the voice of the silver wind.
Even the saddest events will not silence him: the voluntary death of his beloved uncle Jiří and his break-up with Anička. The Silver Wind sounds on and is the harbinger of a new, freer life for Jan Ratkin.
