Such Is Life (DIGITALLY RESTAURED FILM) - DVD

The film captures the tragic story of an ageing washerwoman, whose hard work supports her debauched, violent and alcoholic husband.

This psychological drama with social motifs, drawing its theme from Zola's novel L'Assommoir, represents the peak era of silent cinema with its developed film language, progressive editing techniques, and emphasis on the symbolic function of detail.

DIGITALLY RESTORED FILM
Digital restoration is the process of editing a film frame by frame, which lets you see and hear it just as audiences did at its premiere.
The digital editing process begins by scanning the film in 4K resolution using special equipment with registration pins to ensure maximum image stability. This is followed by the removal of visual and audio imperfections in two stages – first semi-automatically, then cleaned manually, frame by frame.
